The FOX project investigates how fungi modify their cell wall through carbohydrate oxidases, which alter the chemical properties of carbohydrates. By studying these enzymes, the project aims to uncover their biological functions and implications for health, agriculture, and biotechnology.
The fungal cell wall (FCW) is the primary interface between the fungal cell and its surrounding.
This statement applies to all types of fungi, regardless of whether they live in symbiosis, cause disease, or decompose organic matter.
