This project develops a novel method for synthesizing complex organic molecules using a new reaction involving lithiated carbamates and boronic esters. The approach allows for high efficiency and stereocontrol, enabling the rapid production of biologically active polypropionates and other complex natural products.
The creation of new molecular entities and subsequent exploitation of their properties is central to a broad spectrum of research disciplines from medicine to materials but progress has been limited by the difficulties associated with chemical synthesis.
