This project develops a new sequencing method called abasic site sequencing to analyze DNA damage at abasic sites, which occur when nucleobases are removed. It aims to understand the relationship between DNA lesions and gene expression, providing insights into health and disease.
In this proposal a new sequencing method called abasic site sequencing:
AbS-Seq will be developed and applied to the sequencing of abasic sites in context of DNA post-synthetic modifications and the position of abasic site DNA lesions on the genome.Abasic sites are places on the genome where the nucleobase has been removed.
