This project aims to develop innovative scaffolds for bone tissue engineering that combine antimicrobial properties with the ability to promote bone growth. By integrating non-antibiotic nanoparticles and gene-activated components, the technology seeks to effectively treat osteomyelitis and enhance bone regeneration.
Osteomyelitis, i.e. bone infection, combined with the alarming rise in antibiotic resistance globally, is currently regarded as the most devastating clinical complication when attempting to repair bone defects.
