The project explores the use of gap waveguides to improve mobile network infrastructure for high-speed data communication. It aims to develop cost-effective, compact radio frequency components suitable for next-generation mobile base stations.
Our idea is to enable the next generation of mobile network infrastructure for high speed data communication through theuse of a new technology platform called gap waveguides.
The demand for mobile data is growing rapidly and operators seetheir costs for mobile infrastructure rising.
To meet the demand, and at the same time manage costs, the industry is lookingat an increased adoption of smaller, more cost-efficient mobile base stations (small cells) closer to the end-user.
