This project aims to explore the relationship between female sex hormones and psychiatric disorders across different life stages. By analyzing genetic and environmental factors, it seeks to identify women at risk and improve diagnosis and treatment strategies for hormone-related mental health issues.
Psychiatric disorders associated with changes in female sex hormones are a major public health issue and represent a unique opportunity to study the complex interplay between gender, sex and mental states. GASSP aims to understand how genetic and environmental markers can help identify women at risk of psychiatric disorders in relation to the menstrual cycle, childbirth and transition to menopause and improve the current approach to diagnosis, prevention and treatment.
