By creating genetically modified plants with reduced methylation, the project aims to uncover the regulators of this process and its implications for crop improvement and disease treatment.
DNA methylation, the covalent binding of a methyl group (CH3) to cytosine base, regulates the genome activity and plays a fundamental developmental role in eukaryotes.
