GENEGUT aims to develop a pioneering oral RNA-based therapy for treating ileal Crohn's disease by delivering RNA locally to the intestinal tissue. This innovative approach seeks to reduce inflammation while minimizing systemic side effects, leveraging advanced biomaterials and targeted delivery systems.
Crohn’s disease is a non-communicable, global disease with an accelerating incidence (up to 23 per 100,000 persons/year) and annual health costs in excess of 5 billion euro in Europe.
