This project focuses on the genomic analysis of bacterial endosymbionts that live within insect hosts, such as cockroaches and whiteflies. It aims to uncover the roles these symbionts play in their hosts' biology through comparative genomic studies.
General objective of the research project is the genomic and where applicable metagenomic analysis of novel, recently emerged or in the coming years emerging data on genome sequences of diverse bacterial insect endosymbionts.
