This project investigates the formation and age of iron and manganese oxide minerals in crustal rocks, focusing on their relationship with fluid migration processes. By improving dating methods and understanding compositional variability, it aims to enhance knowledge of geological deformation and hydrology.
Secondary Fe- and Mn-oxide minerals are common in crustal rocks, where they form by fluid flow long after initial formation of their host rocks.
This fluid flow represents episodes of deformation, magmatic events, hydrocarbon migration, or topographic and climatic changes that drive groundwater flow.
