This project investigates how conservation practices are adapting to the challenges of human impact on the environment, particularly focusing on orangutan conservation. It employs ethnographic studies to analyze the evolving relationship between conservation strategies and the Anthropocene across various contexts.
In recent years, conservationists have engaged in heated debates about whether and how conservation should respond to the challenges posed by ‘the Anthropocene’—a term increasingly used to encapsulate the overwhelming, transformative impact of human activity on the Earth system.
