GLOBECOSAL investigates the role of artworks in the negotiation of sainthood with the Roman Curia during the Iberian expansion. By examining the intersection of art and spirituality, the project aims to uncover how local communities expressed their identities through the recognition of saints.
GLOBECOSAL investigates how artworks were employed in the process of negotiating sanctity with the Roman Curia in the age of Iberian hegemony by examining the artworks produced with regard to the pioneers of Catholic blesseds and saints in the post-Tridentine ‘global’ context.
