The GlycoSpec project investigates the mechanisms of oligosaccharide reactions and fragmentation by studying cationic intermediates. It combines advanced techniques in mass spectrometry and chemical synthesis to improve glycan assembly and sequencing, aiming to enhance the field of glycosciences.
Oligosaccharides or glycans are essential in nature and central participants in virtually every biological process.
The extensive structural diversity enables glycans to encode rich information in biological functions; however, it also creates major challenges in almost all aspects of the glycosciences.
