This project aims to develop a small molecule that can modulate macrophage function to reduce inflammation while promoting tissue repair. By targeting the GPR84 receptor, the project seeks to create a drug candidate suitable for in vivo testing in models of degenerative diseases.
Elevated local and systemic inflammation has been shown to play a central role in multiple diseases.
An important cellular mechanism leading to chronic increased inflammation is dysregulation of the innate immune system.
