This project aims to create a hybrid energy system for buildings that generates electricity, heating, and cooling using renewable energy sources. It focuses on balancing energy supply and demand while reducing greenhouse gas emissions, thereby contributing to energy security and sustainability in the building sector.
More than 40% of the total energy consumed in the EU is used to cover the needs for heating, cooling and electricity of buildings.
As the major part of this energy is produced from combustion of oil and natural gas, both the EU and the EU Building Sector are highly depended on imported fossil fuels.
Moreover, the Sector is also a major contributor to Green-House Gas (GHG) emissions.
