HAGAF investigates the colonial and post-colonial history of the Indo-Burma borderlands through a gendered perspective. By combining archival research with field studies, it aims to transform understanding of social dynamics and conflicts in this historically marginalized region, focusing on kinship and gender roles.
HAGAF will pioneer research in the comparative and transnational, colonial, and post-colonial history of protracted conflicts in the borderlands of Myanmar, India, and Bangladesh through a gendered lens.
