This project develops a wearable and wireless biosensing platform called the Heart Attack Monitoring Patch (HAMP) for early diagnosis of heart attacks outside hospital settings. It utilizes a fast-response biosensor to detect NT-pro-BNP levels, enabling timely medical intervention during the critical golden hour.
Every year more than 60 million people live with Cardiovascular Disease (CVD), and more than 1.8 million people die as a result of CVD, accounting for 36% of all deaths.
Among different types of CVD, heart attack and stroke are the leading cause of death in the EU.
The recognized guidelines identify the first one hour after the onset of a heart attack as the golden hour to receive proper medical assistance and prevent death or damage to organs.
