HEIREC focuses on accelerating crop improvement by increasing meiotic recombination in bread wheat. By manipulating the HEI10 gene, the project aims to enhance the development of new crop varieties to meet growing food demands in a changing climate.
The increasing demand for food, in the context of a changing climate and deteriorating environments, will be one of the major challenges facing society in the coming decades.
