The HERCULES project focuses on the sustainable management of European cultural landscapes, addressing challenges from land use changes. It aims to empower stakeholders through innovative tools for assessing and mapping these landscapes, ensuring their cultural, historical, and ecological values are preserved.
European cultural landscapes are valued as everyday living environment, countryside, heritage, scenery with aesthetic and recreational qualities and unique biodiversity, and as a source of ecosystem services that they provide to society.
