This project focuses on developing a compact power supply system for retrofitting ships with ballast water treatment technology. The new system significantly reduces installation time and costs, enabling compliance with upcoming regulations for all ships over 300 tons.
The International Maritime Organisation will soon mandate use of ballast water treatment (BWT) systems in all ships over 300T, of which over 31,000 are predicted to be retrofit with electrochlorination systems.
