This project explores high-temperature testing methods for hard coatings using nanoindentation and micropillar compression. The collaboration between Montanuniversität Leoben and the University of Cambridge aims to enhance understanding of material behavior under extreme conditions, which is crucial for improving machi…
The aim of this project is to explore the use of high temperature nanoindentation and micropillar compression as methods for studying the deformation behaviour of hard coatings.
The development of methods for material testing at high temperature is particularly important in hard coatings as the drive for dry machining at ever greater rates increases the service temperatures of materials whose flow stresses are both rate and temperature dependent.
