This project explores David Hume's moral philosophy, presenting it as a form of Virtue Ethics centered on human sentiments rather than reason. By analyzing Hume's texts and contemporary moral philosophy, it aims to clarify his ideas on morality and character in relation to human passions.
This research project aims at presenting the moral philosophy of David Hume as an original Ethics of Virtue, in line with the Virtue Ethics tradition, to be presented as a promising theoretical alternative within present-day ethical debate.
Hume’s ethical thought has been an ongoing source of inspiration for many, but it has been interpreted in different, often conflicting ways.
