The Hybrid Bead Adsorbents project focuses on developing advanced materials for removing heavy metals from water. It aims to scale up the production of bead-type adsorbents and integrate them into existing water purification technologies, ultimately facilitating their market entry for improved water safety.
Each year, millions of people, most of them children, die from diseases associated with inadequate water supply, sanitation and hygiene.
In particular, exposure to heavy metals in drinking water, even at trace levels, poses a considerable health risk.
