The HYGIEIA project aims to create a grey water container with reduced biofilm growth for aircraft sanitation. It focuses on lightweight, durable materials and effective antimicrobial coatings to enhance water safety.
The aim of the HYGIEIA project is to design a grey water container, and its manufacture procedure, with reduced biofilm growth, which is more effective, long lasting and economically competitive with respect to antimicrobial solutions currently implemented in the context of aircraft water sanitation; while at the same time searching for lighter weight but strong structural solutions. HYGIEIA is based on a plastic container with a wide range antimicrobial coating.
