This project aims to transition the steel industry from natural gas to hydrogen by implementing hybrid heating technologies. It focuses on assessing the impacts of this shift on steel quality and combustion systems to reduce carbon emissions.
Currently, NG is normally substituted by hydrogen in upstream processes (both blast furnace and DRI), or limited application in finishing lines.
Current downstream processes totally rely on NG burning as thermal source.
