This project aims to improve understanding of Arctic sea-ice dynamics by creating high-resolution reconstructions of sea-ice cover over millennia. It links these reconstructions to climate change factors, providing essential data for future climate models.
Arctic sea-ice extent and volume are declining rapidly, and according to model simulations, the Arctic Ocean may become seasonally ice-free as early as around 2040.
