This project investigates the immune response triggered by stress-antigens in epithelial cells, focusing on the role of MICA polymorphism in activating T cells and natural killer cells. It aims to understand implications for cancer and inflammatory diseases.
It is increasingly clear that physico-chemical dysregulation of epithelial cells leads to the upregulation of stress-antigens that make the cells visible to sets of lymphocytes that include gamma delta T cells and NK cells.
