This project seeks to identify biomarkers for Multiple Sclerosis by analyzing immune cell populations in monozygotic twins. Using advanced techniques like single-cell mass cytometry and machine learning, it aims to create clinically translatable biomarkers for monitoring disease activity and guiding therapy.
Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a chronic inflammatory disease, where immune cell invasion into the central nervous system causes immunopathology and neurological deficit.
Although disease-modifying therapies dramatically reduce disease activity, they hold the potential for severe adverse effects while long-term disability prospects remain poor.
