This project examines childcare policies in post-Yugoslav countries, focusing on the impact of social investments on early childhood education and parental labor participation. It aims to understand the redistributive effects of these policies and the experiences of disadvantaged parents.
Studies indicate that the middle class disproportionally benefits from social investments in childcare which target both earlychildhood education and care and labour market participation of parents.
Still, there is lack of comparative studies whichwould deepen theoretical and policy understanding of social investment approaches applied in various countries and theireffect on childcare-related policies and via that outcomes.
