This project investigates the mechanisms of cancer metastasis, focusing on the non-genetic changes that allow melanoma cells to adapt and spread. By utilizing advanced single-cell profiling techniques, it aims to identify key cellular states and develop targeted therapies for early intervention in metastatic melanoma.
Metastasis is largely refractory to therapy and, thereby, responsible for 90% of cancer-related deaths.
An incomplete view of the mechanisms that drive metastasis has been a major barrier to rational development of effective therapeutics and prognostic diagnostics for metastatic patients.
