This project explores the role of mitochondrial function in metabolic disorders using in vivo Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy. By studying transgenic mice, it aims to understand how mitochondrial activity affects conditions like diabetes and obesity.
Alterations in muscle mitochondrial function have been implicated in the pathogenesis of numerous metabolic disorders, including insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, obesity, and the deleterious effects of aging.
