This project investigates the failure mechanisms of ductile materials by analyzing microstructural interactions. It aims to develop innovative microstructures to enhance material properties and explore new applications in mechanics.
Failure in ductile materials results from a multiscale interaction of discrete microstructures hierarchically emerging through subsequent material instabilities and self-organizing into regular patterns (shear band clusters, for instance).
