The INTERACT project aims to explore the mechanisms of mimicry in social interactions by developing interactive avatars that can mimic human hand actions. This innovative approach combines social psychology, cognitive neuroscience, and computer science to better understand how people perceive and engage in mimicry.
Human social interaction depends on non-verbal unconscious behaviour as much as on verbal signals.
Mimicry (unconscious copying of actions) is a good example of a social behaviour which is caused by and has consequences for our evaluation of others.
