This research focuses on studying neutron-rich exotic nuclei to understand their quantum structure and the forces influencing their behavior. Using gamma-ray spectroscopy, the project aims to measure nuclear properties that will test existing nuclear structure models.
In the past 100 years, various theoretical approaches have been proposed to model the complex strong interaction between the neutrons and protons in a nucleus, however, a thorough understanding of its quantum structure is still far from being complete.
Studies of the evolution of nuclear structure in mass regions away from the valley of stability have revealed dramatic modifications of the ordering of single-particle orbitals in exotic nuclei as compared to the ones predicted by the Shell Model.…
