Quantum metrology, part of the emerging field of quantum technologies, is an extremely promising field which uses quantum mechanics to realize high resolution measurements.This includes magnetometry, atomic clocks and measurements of weak classical forces to name a few examples.
The most important challenge in quantum metrology is to decouple the quantum sensor from the environment while maintaining the coupling to the probe.
