IOWAGA focuses on enhancing the understanding of ocean waves to improve Earth system models. By integrating diverse observational data and refining numerical models, the project aims to advance knowledge on wave-related processes and their implications for climate and marine safety.
Ocean waves are the essential gearbox between the atmosphere and ocean and also consitute a very peculiar prism through which most satellite sensors see the ocean. IOWAGA proposes a systemic investigation of ocean waves for improving the ocean surface wave compartment of Earth system models.
