This project investigates regulated cell death pathways, particularly ferroptosis, to develop new therapeutic strategies for neurodegenerative diseases and cancer. By identifying key molecular players and mechanisms, it aims to create targeted treatments that can modulate cell death processes.
The recognition of distinct regulated cell death pathways presents tantalizing possibilities for gaining control over life and death decisions made by cells to both prevent age-dependent (neuro)degenerative diseases and to fight cancer.
