The iTRUST project develops a clinical decision support system that utilizes Convolutional Neural Networks to predict outcomes for patients with Acute Ischaemic Stroke. By analyzing clinical data and biomarkers, it provides probabilities for treatment effectiveness, enhancing decision-making in emergency situations.
The problem:
Intravenous thrombolysis is by far the most effective treatment of Acute Ischaemic Stroke (AIS), and its use can independently strongly increase the proportion of AIS patients surviving.
However, in the emergency setting of AIS an excess of information must be considered by the physician including imaging, clinical presentation and electronic health record data before safely inferring on the suitability of thrombolytic therapy.
