The project focuses on developing a cost-effective system to treat polluted wastewater using advanced oxidation processes. It aims to industrialize a pilot system that breaks down hazardous substances into harmless compounds.
Many industrial processes create a significant volume of polluted waste water streams, which needs to be cleaned prior to return to the environment to ensure the sustainability of the water supplies and the environment.
This is reflected in a significant body of legislation, including the European Water Framework Directive and the IPPC directive.
