The LARA project develops a mobile device for utility workers that integrates various technologies to visualize underground infrastructure. Using Augmented Reality, it provides real-time guidance and 3D models of utilities like water and electricity, enhancing fieldwork efficiency.
The LARA system, the main outcome of the project is a mobile device for utility field workers.
The hand-held device integrates different technologies such as: positioning and sensors (GNSS), Augmented Reality (AR), GIS, geodatabases, etc.
In practise, this device will guide the field workers in underground utilities to ‘see’ what happening underworld, like an “x-ray image” of the underground infrastructure.
