This project investigates the role of the medial prefrontal cortex in social cognition deficits associated with schizophrenia and the 22q11.2 deletion syndrome. By studying mouse models, it aims to understand how altered oxytocin and dopamine dynamics affect social recognition and emotional processing.
Schizophrenia is associated with impairment of social cognition and social function.
Medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) is crucial for processing of social cues and regulation of social behaviour.
