Light4lungs aims to combat chronic lung infections by replacing antibiotics with inhalable light sources that activate natural photosensitisers in bacteria. This innovative approach eliminates pathogens through a photodynamic effect, providing a safer treatment option for patients with conditions like cystic fibrosis.
Light4lungs addresses the problem of antimicrobial resistance in the treatment of chronic lung infections, which are the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in patients with diseases such as cystic fibrosis and hospital-acquired lung infections.
