The MUSE project develops a new instrument for observing distant galaxies by analyzing Lyman-alpha emissions. It aims to enhance understanding of the interstellar medium and the early universe's reionization through advanced radiation transfer modeling.
MUSE is a second generation instrument for the ESO-VLT being built in Lyon.
This integral field spectrograph is planned to start observing in autumn 2012.
