This project focuses on understanding the structure and strength of magnetic fields in the Milky Way, which influence cosmic ray behavior and star formation. Using advanced observational techniques, it aims to map these fields and improve our understanding of Galactic magnetism and its implications for cosmology.
Magnetic fields pervade the Milky Way and dominate cosmic ray propagation, interstellar medium dynamics and probably star formation.
Despite its importance, surprisingly little is known about the strength and structure of the magnetic field in the Galactic disk and halo.The newly developed observational method of Rotation Measure Synthesis will revolutionize our knowledge about the magnetized Galactic ecosystem.
