This research aims to develop lightweight composite structures using carbon nanotube webs to enhance impact resistance and electrical conductivity in aerostructures. The project seeks to address challenges in utilizing these materials for improved performance in aviation and other transport sectors.
The aim of this research is to create multifunctional lightweight composite aerostructures utilising the unique properties of recently-developed carbon nanotube webs (CNTWs), produced from directly spinnable CNT forests (highly aligned CNTs grown on a silicon substrate).
