The MaMa project aims to create new mechanochromic materials by integrating responsive chromophores into polymers. These materials can change color when subjected to mechanical stress, with potential applications in smart packaging, coatings, and structural health monitoring.
The MaMa project aims at developing integrated computational approaches enabling to describe and design new mechanochromic materials.
In particular, we aim at rationally design technologically consistent commodity polymers with smart and intelligent features such as mechano-responsive elastomeric, thermoplastic and thermoset polymers by the introduction of chromogenic species in the polymeric matrix in the form of mechanophore chromophores.
