The project focuses on improving the identification of ablation targets for patients at risk of ventricular tachycardia by utilizing a novel 3D imaging technology. This non-invasive approach aims to enhance the precision and efficiency of cardiac procedures, potentially reducing the need for invasive mapping catheters.
Patients at risk of ventricular tachycardia (VT), the primary cause of sudden cardiac death, commonly undergo catheter ablation to cauterize the areas within myocardial scars responsible for arrythmias.
However, the initial phase of the intervention devoted to identifying the ablation targets currently involves the intra-cardiac insertion of a mapping catheter characterized for being invasive, often inaccurate, and time-consuming.
