Matricellular proteins mediate interaction between cells and the extracellular matrix and are essential regulators of synaptic function and architecture.
Recently, the two prototypical matricellular proteins SPARC and hevin have been implicated in depression-like behaviors, antidepressant response and resilience to stress.
