Many countries worldwide have ratified the Access to Benefit Sharing (ABS) of the Nagoya Protocol under the convention on Biological Diversity (CBD).
The ABS ultimately seeks to fulfil the fair and equitable sharing of benefits arising from the use of genetic resources.
