This project aims to develop a more efficient source of high-flux extreme ultraviolet light by integrating high-harmonic generation directly within a high-power femtosecond laser cavity. This approach recycles unconverted light, enhancing photon output for applications in metrology and microscopy.
Coherent extreme ultraviolet (XUV) light sources open up new opportunities for science and technology.
Promising examples are attosecond metrology, spectroscopic and structural analysis of matter on a nanometer scale, high resolution XUV-microscopy and lithography.
The most promising technique for table-top sources is femtosecond laser-driven high-harmonic generation (HHG) in gases.
Unfortunately, their XUV photon flux is not sufficient for most applications.
